ECON10770 Introduction to Economics

This module will introduce students to the subject of economics. Students will be introduced to microeconomics. We will discuss the factors that determine supply and demand in markets and how these determine the prices of the goods and services we buy as well as how much is purchased. We will discuss strengths and weaknesses of free markets and the rationales for government intervention in the economy. Students will also learn the basic concepts of macroeconomics: How to measure gross domestic product, inflation and unemployment as well as the role played by government fiscal and monetary policy. A number of topical economic issues will be discussed in the course such as inequality, international trade and financial crises. This module may be taken as part of a Structured Elective in Economics. This means that if you combine this module with at least 10 additional credits from other economics modules you will be awarded a ‘structured elective in economics’ on your transcript.

I did this as an elective and found it really handy tbh. Online MCQs for entirety of grade and not much content. I just went through slides for a bit before doing the quiz and was fine, because i found the lectures painfully slow.

The only thing that ruined this was the lecturer she was utter shite and I pray she’s never reinstated it puts a terrible look on the school of economics

dunno if it’s cause i’ve never done economics before or wha but if the course was written in gibberish i could’ve understood more genuinely didn’t get a word but sure atleast it’s graded by mcq

DESPISED THIS CLASS. everyone ik hated it. you know it's bad when even the textbook and khan academy made more sense than listening in lectures. this course had me scrambling for my life, literally screaming crying throwing up banging my head against the wall every single day because i took this class. the lecturers were not the best and the quizzes for micro had questions that were not in the lectures. assessments are mcq's though so only one good point ig
