EEEN20030 Electromagnetic Fields

This course provides an introduction to the combined electric and magnetic principles that underlie the functionality of electrical and electronic systems. Maxwell’s equations are developed in the integral form, and applied to solve problems considering point charges within simplified electric and magnetic geometries. The following topics will be covered:• Electric charge and the electric field• Electric flux density and Gauss's Law• Electric scalar potential• Electric field in matter and boundary conditions• Capacitance• Numerical simulation of electromagnetic problems• Magnetic field and Ampere's Law• Magnetic flux and Gauss's Law for magnetic fields• Faraday's Law• Inductance• Maxwell's equations• Applications of ElectromagneticsThe course material is self-contained.
