The best module I did in college (have now graduated). Ignited an interest in programming, and have now worked in the tech industry for 3 years with life science clients as a result. Went on to have Prof. O'Gaora as my thesis supervisor for 4th year and really enjoyed having a non-lab project. If you have any interest in programming I would absolutely recommend this!

I would recommend not taking this module. It’s pretty difficult to do well in and grasp if you have no previous programming experience. Found the final exam very challenging. Unless you want to go into bioinformatics I’d recommend taking an easier module!

Attending the practicals is a sure way to get a decent grade, there is plenty of documentation for literally any code you're trying to implement. Plus there is an open book exam in week 12, so one less exam during the 'official' exam period.

Absolutely a must for anyone interested in bioinformatics. By far my favourite module, it is very engaging and while challenging very rewarding.
