GEOL10030 Field Geology, Level 1
This is an intensive, mainly field-based and residential, course, which will take place mainly in one week within the Spring Break covering the following topics: Topographic and geological maps, basic principles of navigation; plate tectonics and the geological history of Ireland; sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic processes; Irish mineral, hydrocarbon and coal resources; Geology and landscape features; building materials and quarrying.

Good craic if youre there with a good group. Local pub is nice. Going out on roxks hungover is a bit grim. Interesting topic. Easy pass but probably wont boost your gpa, depending on how hard you try and the notes you take on the trip.
If you’re planning on studying any geological science, this is the best module you could take. It really reinforces the stuff you learn from lectures in modules like GEOL10060 or GEOL10020, as you get to see it in real life and study the rocks in depth. The lecturers are lovely and help you the whole way.
