PHPS10010 Student Health & Wellbeing

This module will enable students to reflect on some of the issues that affect their own health and wellbeing and that of their family and friends. The module will focus on lifestyle-related behaviours which are at the core of much of the ill health observed in modern society. Students will be encouraged to look at what drives these behaviours and the broader socio-ecological influences that often shape our decisions. There will be a series of lectures. Students will also have the opportunity to work in groups to develop a campus health promotion initiative for students, based on learning in the module, literature search and UCD campus review.

Overall this module is easy - a 50% online MCQ and then a 50% group presentation which consists of a specific topic like alcohol issues or mental health issues in UCD. The lecturer gives each group a topic and they must lay out an initiative as to how they will improve this ( you must do the group presentation even if you get full marks in MCQ). However, if you are not a fan of presenting or group work, I might not suggest this because the lecturers expect you to know your group topic very well and will ask you questions about your initiative once you're done presenting.
