PSY10090 Introduction to Applied Psychology

The aim of this module is to provide students with an introduction to applied psychology by examining how psychology has used research to examine socially significant issues. A range of topics will be considered, for example video games and aggression, cheating in sport, bullying, self-esteem, wellbeing and dementia. The module will also use these topics to examine quantitative and qualitative research methods, and a key focus of the module is on supporting students to be confident consumers of research in journals and the popular media. Students should note that this module will include formal lectures, in-class small group workshops and a high level of participation is expected.

DO NOT TAKE THIS IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO! Was required to take it as a psychology major and it is a complete waste of time please don't choose it as an elective/optional module. The content is not super interesting and the assignments are not very engaging. It's easy enough but not a great use of your time.

To preface, I did this module purely online, but I found it a bit jumbled. The lecture content is not bad, but I found the format of delivery odd (25min video 25min lecture). I will say that you need to engage in order to do well, as the grades come from a group discussion. Overall a handy enough elective but not very exciting
