SCI10040 Preparing for Your Future Career
The key purpose of this module is to facilitate undergraduate students in their academic, personal and professional career development, so that they will be well equipped to secure internships and to successfully enter the graduate labour market. Students from a diverse range of disciplines will be encouraged to develop a strong sense of self-awareness, as well as enabled to identify and develop a range of employability skills which will be pivotal to their future career. The module provides students with the opportunity to engage in effective career planning, to gain an insight into the graduate labour market and an appreciation of how to effectively manage the recruitment process.
A very significant amount of the learning for this module takes place in the lectures. Therefore lecture attendance is mandatory - note that there are only 12 lectures. Consequently, assessment grades are moderated by the number of lectures attended. For example, if you attend 100% of the lectures then your final mark remains unchanged i.e. you get 100% of the grade you obtained. If attend 80% of the lectures then your grade will be 80% of your final mark. If attend 50% of the lectures then your grade will be 50% of your final mark and so on.
